When to mental health impacts daily functioning

Patients may understand their challenges but still struggle to follow through on daily routines, self-care, and everyday tasks. Symptoms like fatigue, overwhelm, and disorganization can make daily life harder — even with ongoing psychiatric care.

Mental health occupational therapy supports patients in turning insight into action. We focus on practical strategies that help patients build routines, manage daily responsibilities, and function more independently in everyday life.

Functional areas we support in mental health care:

  • Daily routine development and follow-through

  • Meal planning and food-related routines

  • Work–life balance and role management

  • Self-care habit formation

  • Home organization and task management

  • Social connection and participation

  • Managing everyday responsibilities

  • Support during life transitions

"A collaborative, evidence-informed mental health OT service with clear scope and strong follow-through. An excellent resource for community-based psychiatric care."

Sessions are practical and collaborative. Occupational therapists work alongside patients to build routines, break down tasks, and create systems that support daily functioning. The focus is on translating insight into action — without adding unnecessary burden.

Hands-on mental health occupational therapy

Holistic Community Therapy provides practical occupational therapy support focused on routines, habits, and daily structures that improve functional capacity in everyday life.

We work with patients who are managing mental health symptoms alongside work, relationships, and daily responsibilities, and who benefit from structured, hands-on support beyond insight alone.

Care is collaborative, grounded, and goal-focused, with an emphasis on small, sustainable changes that support confidence, independence, and long-term follow-through.

FAQs

Do you take insurance?

This specific service is private pay only.

Insurance does not cover support focused on healthy lifestyle, routines, or everyday living skills. If you’re looking for insurance-covered OT, we can help point you in the right direction.

Is this therapy?

No. It’s not traditional talk therapy.

This is hands-on occupational therapy focused on helping you build routines, habits, and systems that make daily life feel easier and more manageable.

Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?

No. This service is designed to help you build a healthier, more grounded daily life — no diagnosis or referral needed.

How soon can I start?

Most people are able to get scheduled quickly. After a brief consult, we’ll help you find a time that works with your routine.

How often should I come?

Everyone’s needs are different, but most people start with weekly or biweekly sessions to build momentum and consistency.

What if I don't know what I need?

That’s completely okay. You don’t have to have everything figured out. Part of our work together is helping you clarify what you want your days to look and feel like — and taking the first steps to get there.

This is not for you if you need:

  • Insurance-covered occupational therapy

  • OT for stroke, brain injury, concussion, or TBI

  • Physical rehabilitation or recovery from an injury

  • OT for children or school-based OT

  • Sensory, motor, or hand therapy services

  • Support with feeding therapy or mobility needs

  • Treatment focused on medical or physical conditions
